Our Mission:

To be a God-seeking community sharing the life and love of Jesus.

Our Vision

Engaging West Flint

We believe that we have been called to the immediate area surrounding our church out to a 1-mile radius. You will find that most of what we do is intentionally targeted for this area.

Bringing Hope

We believe that all people have needs and that hope grows when needs are met. We also believe that true hope is found in the person and works of Jesus Christ.

Living Better Stories

Simply put, when people live better stories

that means the world is changing.

Together

We realize that there is no need to reinvent the wheel! We are more than happy to engage with outside organizations

(religious or not) in order to see our community radically changed.

#BuildingBetterStories

Our purpose simplified. This is our contagious one-liner that you will hear, again and again. It boils down everything that we do into something that is remembered, retained and easily shared with others. Do you see where someone is #BuidingBetterStories? Share it on social media with that hashtag so that ~Together~ we can see Flint changed for Christ!

Building: In Ephesians 2:22, the Apostle Paul writes that we are "being built" and he immediately follows with "together."  Building carries with it the notion of Christian unity and is a staple of the Church of God.

Better Together

When Jesus started his public ministry, he sat down in the synagogue and read the scroll which he was handed. That scroll from Isaiah 61 was the vision that God has for the world: Now is the time of the Lord's favor and for us, that is perfectly summed up with the idea of "better."

Luke 4:18-21 (New English Translation)

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives

and the regaining of sight to the blind,

to set free those who are oppressed,

to proclaim the year of the Lords favor.”

Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he began to tell them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read.”

The West Court Church Family:

One Story Shaped by Many

The story that has been told on the west side of Flint has certainly had its ups-and-downs. West Court Church is no different. The story in the world is influenced by powers that drain the life of the families and individuals. We have experienced that too! The truth is, everyone everywhere struggles to maintain balance. In the Church, it is done intentionally by honoring the "lesser" member (1 Corinthians 12:23) in realizing that life is not a race to be won. We are all destined to die (Hebrews 9:27), but we are called to live together:

"For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another" (Romans 12:4-5).

That's why at West Court Church our vision for influencing our community begins with US. If we are to engage west Flint, we must engage each other! If we will ever bring hope to the community, we must make sure each other is living with hope! If we intend others to live better stories, then we have to have testimonies of better lives ourselves! If we will partner with others to do this together, it must be reflected within the house of the Lord!

This means we are not of our own. Your story is my story and my story is your story, because that's how it becomes (Hi)story!
